Coldplay emerged from the humble backwaters of Nineties indie rock to become the biggest band of their era. Breaking through with such refreshingly wide-eyed expressions of male sensitivity as Yellow and Trouble, they went on to capture universal emotions on Clocks, Fix You and other accompaniments to teary moments both real and cinematic.
