According to social media reports, users across the country are receiving error messages and some are reporting issues when logging in.
Online outage tracker DownDetector says that issues began with the app at 11:43am today (October 13), and users have taken to other social media platforms to complain.
More than 9,000 people in the UK alone have highlighted an issue with the app, with thousands taking to social media.
Snapchat has acknowledged the issue on a verified support account, stating: “Good Afternoon, Snapchat will shortly be back up and running. Please log out and log back in in the meantime to refresh your connection.”
Despite the suggestion, users are still reporting issues logging in and using the application.
A total of 55 per cent of users flagging the problem to DownDetector say they have issues logging in, while 25 per cent say posting is the issue, and 21 per cent say the app is showing a “server issue”.
Snapchat is not the first social media giant to suffer an outage this month – Facebook went down for over 6 hours on Monday, October 4.
The Facebook outage affected all of their services, including Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram.
