Oregon Ducks running back Travis Dye enters transfer portal, weighing return to UO, per source

EUGENE — Travis Dye, Oregon’s starting running back and the Pac-12′s leader in all-purpose yards this season, has entered the transfer portal but he may not be gone just yet.

Dye, who had 211 carries for 1,271 yards — No. 10 in UO single-season history — and 16 touchdowns and 46 catches for 402 yards and two scores this season, entered the portal on Friday, according to a source with knowledge of the matter, who said Dye is still considering returning to UO for his senior season.

A fourth-year junior, Dye is automatically entered in the 2022 NFL Draft and has until Feb. 4 to opt out and play his final year of eligibility of college football next season.

Dye had career-highs in carries, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, receptions and receiving yards in 2021. He was the first player to lead Oregon in both rushing yards and receptions in a season since Sean Burwell in 1992.

The Norco, Calif. native is one of five Oregon players to rush for 3,000 career yards. Dye has 521 career carries for 3,111 yards and 21 touchdowns with 83 catches for 869 yards and eight touchdowns in 48 games.
