Skull Session: Schedule Changes Help Ohio State, Score Differential Shows How the Buckeyes Underperformed, and Chris Holtmann Isn’t an Artist

A month ago, Ohio State absolutely throttled Wisconsin on the hardwood. Tonight, the buzzcuts are back for more.

An 18-point home win was undeniably fun, but let’s go ahead and remove all doubt with a blowout win on their home court.

Cool? Cool.

Word of the Day: Belie.

GOOD NEWS! Hand up, when I heard that Ohio State’s schedule was going to be reshuffled, I was not expecting more than half of the games to be moved around. But that’s what we got!

Pour one out for everyone who made long-term plans based around the Buckeyes’ bye week, but at the end of the day, it looks like things worked out in Ohio State’s favor?

And that’s on top of that, the Buckeyes now have five-straight home games to open the season, which seems good!

Top to bottom, this is one of the difficult Ohio State schedules I can ever remember. About half of the opponents will be ranked, then you’ve got a road matchup against Maryland which should have the second-best passing offense in the Big Ten and Northwestern’s long-ass grass (hyphen placement is important, folks).

Needless to say, I’ll take the favorable changes, no matter how slight they may be.

UNDERPERFORMED. Y’all probably don’t need stats or a chart to tell you that Ohio State didn’t play up to its potential in the games it lost this season. But hey, you can rest assured that what you saw with your eyes is backed up by the numbers.

So basically, Ohio State had the second-best point-differential in college football. Based on that point differential, the Buckeyes should have had a better record than they did.

Even simpler: Ohio State obliterated most teams, but blew it when it mattered. But you knew that already!

But hey, at least we weren’t Nebraska!

AIN’T NO REMBRANDT. The Big Ten Network ambitiously set out to explore the artistic talent of the conference’s men’s hoops coaches.

It was a great effort on their part. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the coaches.

But asmuch as I want to blast Chris Holtmann for not even trying, I honestly respect the hustle and the self-awareness. I think I’m gonna start doing this whenever I’m struggling to think of something clever or witty to say online.

There.

RIDDLE ME THIS… As a professional sports blogger, there is nothing more glorious than when content simply falls into your lap. Especially during the offseason, it’s like manna in the desert.

That is why Javontae Jean-Baptiste is now my favorite player.

My only complaint is that he didn’t start this series in like the middle of June when the well is bone dry. But hey, I’ll take what I can get.
